This spring - right after the cherry blossom viewing - there will be some pleasant programs for our dear Japanese friends. Gary will return to Japan after 21 long years, as he played there last time with the "After The War" tour in 1989. The five-dates mini tour including three concerts in Tokyo at different venues, but Gary and his band will find some enthusiastic fans in Osaka and Nagoya, too. The line-up of Gary's band is the same as last year: Pete Rees on bass, Vic Martin on keyboards and Steve Dixon on drums.
Last week Gary had played one of the last shows of the Bad For You Baby tour in Budapest. On the day before the show he had attended a press conference - right after arriving from Poland. Although the journalists were not in top form with their questions, they did run for autographs at the end just like fans would do. Or they were more like fans than journalists? Anyway, I still had a few seconds to presenting to Gary a thankyou "award" in the name of our fan community. It's 40 years already since the first vinyl record has been released featuring Gary's guitar playing.
If you've bought the nice digipak version of "34 Hours" which released in 2001, you will like this new CD as well. Repertoire Records finally released the first Skid Row album in the same digipak format with a nice booklet - although without any bonus tracks this time. This remastered version of the first (but not the originally recorded!) Skid Row album is released on 9th of February.
Gary and his band will start the touring in March with some dates in Denmark, but during the spring and the summer they will play some more dates in the UK and Ireland as well. The line-up is not known yet, but it seems Gary has kept together the band since the last summer gigs (Brian Downey - drums, Vic Martin - keyboards, Pete Rees - bass). Otis Taylor will be the support act on the UK dates! Maybe some more European dates will be announced soon.
